Pacific Brass Outreach

updated 3/20/11

As a registered non-profit corporation, it is the stated purpose of the Pacific Brass Band , in part, to "advance, develop and foster an interest in, and appreciation of music". To a member, the Pacific Brass Band feels that music is an intregal part of a complete education, helping to make a truely well rounded, educated indiviual.

So it's no surprise that we heartily endorse the efforts to reduce the impact of budget cuts affecting music programs in the Hollister School District. These cuts eliminate music education at the elementary levels, thus leading to the inevitable downturn in students participating in musical activities at the middle and high school levels. The effects will be felt within a year at the middle schools, and cascade to the high school.

Concerned parents and friends of the arts in Hollister have vowed to continue the fight!

To that end, the Rancho-Maze Middle School Band Boosters & the San Benito High School Band Boosters initiated the "Mr. Ostenson's Save The Music Drive" to raise the funds to pay for the next two years of elementary school instrumental music. They need $78,000 for each year, and are well on their way to achieving that goal through a series of fundraisers & donations.

The Pacific Brass Band will be performing in two benefit concerts this spring in support of the funding drive, and hope to be able to do so again in the future. We urge you to visit their website & make a pledge!
